The awareness of sleep apnea and the significant number of individuals afflicted with this condition has led to the creation and development of an important market for Philips.  When new devices were being created, the organization was having great difficulty determining how one compared to another, because every test was unique to the mask.

CorCom, Inc. created a standardized testing system that was used to gather feedback on thousands of patients and numerous masks.  By establishing a set of benchmark metrics, the organization could gauge how well a mask might perform based on the test results.  The testing process was eventually expanded and became a key department of the organization and its product development efforts.
